Licensure
Dr. Foynes is licensed to see clients in NC (virtual & in-person), MA (virtual only), & 42 PSYPACT-participating states (virtual only). To see if you live in a PSYPACT-participating state, please go view the map on the PSYPACT website here. Dr. Munich is licensed to see clients in NC (virtual & in-person) and MA (virtual only). Since both Dr. Foynes and Dr. Munich also work with people in other states and countries outside of a therapy context, please contact them directly if you are interested in their coaching and/or consultation services outside of mental health as those offerings are guided by different rules and regulations.
Payment
We accept cash, personal checks, all major credit cards, and Flexible Spending or Health Savings Account Cards.
Insurance Coverage
The providers at Opened Heart Therapy are out-of-network with all insurance companies.
Out-of-network providers accept insurance, but do not have a specific contract with any insurance companies. Many health plans will reimburse for treatment provided by licensed providers, even if they are not considered “in-network” or “preferred providers.” Many of our current clients receive reimbursement for all or part of their services here. We will provide you with a monthly statement to submit to your health insurance provider for reimbursement purposes. Your work with us may also be tax deductible as a medical expense even if you choose not to use your insurance.
If you plan to use your insurance, we encourage you to contact your insurance carrier prior to your first session and ask the following questions:
What are my out of network mental health benefits (e.g., number of sessions, coverage for individual, couples, family, and group therapy)?
- Do I have an out of network deductible? If so, what is the amount and have I met it yet?
- Am I responsible for any out of network co-pays?
- Do I need a pre-authorization or a referral from a provider?
- Does my plan only cover visits that are considered medically necessary?
Please be aware that should you choose to use your insurance benefits, you need to meet criteria for and be provided with a mental health diagnosis. These diagnoses are available to medical, disability, and life insurance companies, which are often considered when deciding whether to offer you a policy, and at what rate. Your insurance company may also put limits on the number of sessions, length of appointments, and type of therapy for which they will reimburse you. That being said, using insurance can be worthwhile, especially if it gives you access to treatment you couldn’t otherwise afford. Deciding whether or not to use your insurance is a very personal decision and usually involves weighing the relative risks and benefits of your specific needs, privacy, and cost.
Fees
All fees are comparable to those of other local mental health professionals with similar training and years of experience. Since Dr. Foynes and Dr. Munich charge different rates for their services, please contact them directly to get more information.
Cancellation Policy
If you are unable to make an appointment, please contact us 24-hours in advance. Appointments cancelled in less than 24-hours will be charged a cancellation fee. We understand advanced notice may not always be possible in the case of a sudden illness or emergency. Unfortunately, missed appointments are not reimbursable by insurance.
